A Win for Housing: Federal Action Moves Housing Solutions Forward
At a time when too many Californians are struggling to find a home they can afford, meaningful action on homeownership is needed at every level of government. That is why the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) continues to advocate locally, statewide and in Washington, D.C. for practical solutions that expand ownership housing opportunities and help more families achieve the California Dream of owning their future.
The passage of H.R. 6644, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, represents an important step forward in addressing housing affordability and supply challenges across the country. This bipartisan legislation:
modernizes and expands existing housing programs;
supports new approaches to increasing housing options;
improves access to affordable rental housing and includes provisions to strengthen the availability of manufactured housing.
While no single bill can solve the housing crisis overnight, movement on these solutions show that federal leaders recognize the need for a practical approach that helps expand housing opportunities. For California, where high costs, limited inventory and shrinking pathways to ownership continue to put pressure on families, that progress matters.
The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is an important step toward expanding housing options nationwide and in California. C.A.R. will continue working to build on that progress by advancing policies that expand homeownership opportunities, unlock existing housing inventory and help more Californians find a path to owning a home.
