At a time when too many Californians are struggling to find a home they can afford, meaningful action on homeownership is needed at every level of government. That is why the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) continues to advocate locally, statewide and in Washington, D.C. for practical solutions that expand ownership housing opportunities and help more families achieve the California Dream of owning their future.

Buying a home in California is already out of reach for too many families. That is why the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) works to stop state bills that would add new costs or make it harder for Californians to buy, sell and remain in their homes. AB 736 would have opened the door to higher transfer taxes on homes. Stopping it was one of our highest priorities this year.

Buying a home in California already requires families to save, plan and stretch their budgets. Every dollar matters, especially for first-time buyers and working Californians trying to take the first step toward homeownership. California law reflects that.
